This past week, we met up with Elise, from StopRhinoPoaching.com to exchange the R25,000 donation and to get up-to-date with the progress of both our initiatives and the latest rhino news.  This donation will be spent purchasing survival kits for the poachers that work towards rhino protection in Kruger National Park.  Kruger Park is the place where rhino poaching is most tragic, with the more rhinos killed in the park annually, than anywhere else.

The Locked Horn Project is a collaborative venture between African Creative and StopRhinoPoaching.com.  We, the people behind African creative, specialise in the production of African art, hand-crafted bead and wire animals and handmade African gifts.  Our business is centered around the beauty of African wildlife, and the Locked Horn Project allows us to be involved in its protection and conservation.

The limited-edition beaded rhino art created for the Locked Horn Project, is hand-crafted by a small team of highly-skilled African artists, specialising in bead and wire art in our Cape Town, South Africa studio.  African Creative and Locked Horn Project bead and wire art is much loved by an international audience and our Locked Horn Project Rhino’s have recently found new homes in Italy and the UK – check out this article A Gift From Africa – In Italy! and A South African Souvenir  to find out about others’ Locked Horn stories.

Our partners, StopRhinoPoaching launched in July 2010 as an independent web-based platform, dedicated to raising awareness and support for the war against rhino poaching. Although independent, StopRhinoPoaching.com enjoys a close working relationship with many recognised role players, their opinion and experience proving invaluable when establishing projects and allocating funds.

For every piece of beaded rhino art  sold, we donate 15% of the proceeds to StopRhinoPoaching.com.  We’ve set a goal of raising 200,000 rand but there’s no way we can reach it without your support.  We need you to ensure another Locked Horn Project rhino donation can be made.

If you want to get behind the issue and do your bit to support rhino conservation, buy a rhino and proudly display an artwork that shows you’ve put your money into making a difference and protecting the endangered rhino species.
